9ct Gold Gents Wrist Watch, 1924
A 9ct gold gents wrist watch, 1924.
The watch has a Swiss hand-winding movement, a good quality movement with 15 jewels and three adjustments, and it is working nicely.
The watch measures 31mm diameter excluding the winding crown and the fixed wire lugs. The case is 9ct gold and there are hallmarks inside the hinged case back for London 1924, with an importer’s mark for George Stockwell. From 1 June 1907, Stockwells acted as assay agents, facilitating the import into Britain of foreign gold and silver items, which had to be assayed and hallmarked in a UK assay office before being released for retail. The hinged case back has four little “dings” and, if you look inside the case back there are some scratches.
The lens is in good condition.
The dial is in good condition and the Breguet style hands are a charming feature.
A new leather strap has been fitted.
