Early 19th C Straw Work Cigar Case, possibly by a French Napoleonic Prisoner of War.
Floral design on in the centre of both sides framed by intricate geometric pattern straw work. Black lacquer on the inside. Both parts fit snugly.
Fine craftsmanship.
The case is still sturdy and in good condition for the age. There are however some losses to the straw work in places as shown in the photos. Never been restored.
The case is 13cm long, 6cm wide and 2.5cm thick.
Listed items are usually available to view at the Red House Antiques Centre in York.
