This is a 19th century French ebony & brass inlaid lady`s vanity box. The lid and front are inlaid with a foliate scroll, comprised of brass and mother-of-pearl. Inside is an ornately structured frame with three compartments, two glass & gilt perfume bottles, lined with rouched cream and red silk. The lid is hinged to reveal an internal mirror. The external corners of the box are bevelled with brass inlay with a scroll design. The lock and key are working and both original. This lovely vanity box is in excellent condition. The silk internally shows some spots and in parts is showing some wear.
