1970's Rodania Super Suisso 1000m Divers Watch, NOS
An extremely rare Rodania Super Suisso 3000 divers wristwatch. The dial has a green finish to the centre, surrounded by a black outer. The hour markers each have lume caps, set back into the black chapter ring - designed as a contrast to increase legibility in low light conditions. The design of the hands mirror the hour markers, overlapping perfectly for accurate reading of the time. The dial is surrounded by a uni-directional rotating bakelite bezel, designed to accurately measure the elapsed time of a dive. A recessed date aperture is visible at 3 o'clock, with a semi-quick setting.
This type of case is referred to as a 'monobloc', designed to eliminate unnecesary risks of water ingress due to its original type of use. The back of the case is marked 'Waterproof 100ATM, Automatic, Stainless steel, Swiss made'. The name Super Suisso 3000 is a reference to the depth rating of this watch of 100ATM (atmospheres), which equates to 1000m - around 3000ft. The back and sides of the case have a highly polished finish, contrasting to the brushed steel finish of the front. The brushed steel finish follows to the bracelet, which is made up of interlocking links and a signed Rodania clasp. The watch also retains its original signed Rodania winding crown.
The watch is powered by a 25 jewel automatic mechanism, based on the AS caliber 1913. The watch overall is in close to NOS condition, with practically no signs of use - a true rarity for a divers watch of this period.
