1961 Omega Seamaster gents wrist watch
1961 Omega Seamaster gents wrist watch.
The watch has an automatic movement, calibre 503, which is working nicely. The movement is fully signed and the serial number 18,047,866 dates it back to 1961.
The watch measures 33mm diameter excluding the winding crown and the lugs. The case is stainless steel and it has the raised Seamaster logo to the screw-on case back. The case is in good condition, just a couple of minor scratches to the back. The winding crown has the Omega logo.
The inner case back has the reference 14746-1SC which is correct for the calibre 503 movement.
The lens is in good condition.
The signed dial is in its original finish, known as a tropical dial which is a dial that has faded to a nice brown colour due to exposure to the sun and other various forms of light. Aged dials are nowadays seen by some collectors as evidence of authenticity and as a visible connection to the history of a watch.
There is an early form of quickset date where the hands are moved repeatedly backwards and forwards between 12 midnight and 11pm until the desired date is reached.
A new leather strap has been fitted.
