1950s mid-size Owesa wrist watch, super condition
1950s mid-size Owesa wrist watch.
The watch has a Swiss hand-winding movement which is working nicely.
The watch measures 19mm wide excluding the winding crown and 28mm high excluding the lugs so it is a mid-size piece. The main body of the case is chrome plated with brushed sides, while the case back is stainless steel. The case is in lovely condition, it does not look as though it has ever been worn, just very light storage marks.
The curved lens has light marks visible through a magnifying loupe, again probably just from being in storage.
The dial is signed Owesa, a brand name registered by Otto Wegemund GmbH of Saarbrücken, Germany in 1958. Wegemund imported the blank movements (called ebauches) and finished and cased them in readiness for wholesale. It is in its original finish with original hands, a subsidiary seconds dial and outer minute markers.
The watch comes on a dark brown leather strap, believed to be original to the watch. The original Owesa label is still attached.
The watch comes in a new presentation box.
