1940s silver Omega pocket watch with chain
1940s silver Omega pocket watch with chain.
The watch has a 38.5L.T1 stem winding movement which is working nicely. The movement is signed Omega and the serial number 10,821,453 dates it back to the mid 1940s. The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover upon which is an inscription which roughly translates as, 'ARBED, to his loyal collaborator, Mathias Ronk, 1921-1941, Esch-Usines' which suggests a long service award from employers Aciéries Réunies de Burbach-Eich-Dudelange (ARBED), a major Luxembourg-based steel and iron producing company.
The watch measures 48mm diameter excluding the stem and loop. The case is 925 (sterling silver) and the Fédération de Fabricants de Boîtes Argent (FFBA) mark for silver watch case manufacturers, tells us that the maker was S Graber SA of Renan, who registered in 1934. The case is in good condition and has Mr Ronk's initials to the hinged back.
The acrylic lens is in good condition.
The signed dial is in its original finish and it is in good condition with feuille shaped hands, a subsidiary seconds dial and outer minute markers.
The watch comes with a single silver albert 24.5cm long including the later T-bar and clasp. There is also a 1925 silver fob.
The watch and chain will be sent in a new presentation box. ALL PRICES INCLUDE UK POSTAGE (excluding Northern Ireland).
Please contact us before placing international orders so that we can advise of shipping prices and to see if customs regulations allow us to post watches to your country.
The international buyer is responsible for paying any import duties and taxes.
All of our watches are checked over before listing, and are also checked for accuracy which is usually within around +/- two to three minutes over 24 hours (unless otherwise stated), which is considered respectable for a vintage watch.
We are a VAT registered company and all purchases are covered by Consumer Regulations.
Credit / debit card purchases can be made over the telephone on 01386 750238 or you can proceed via the \'Buy Securely\' button on each listing page.
We are an on-line only business and do not have facilities for callers. Our offices are open from Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.
With regards to appraisals / valuations, we receive a huge number of information requests each day and unfortunately do not have the manpower to deal with them all individually. Our advice would be to contact a local auctioneer for a full appraisal.
