1940s mid-size Crusader wrist watch
A 1940s Crusader wrist watch, originally retailed by Walker & Hall.
The watch has a good quality Swiss 15-jewel hand-winding movement which is working nicely. The movement is signed with the Crusader name… the name was registered by several different companies so it is difficult to pin down the actual factory.
The watch itself measures 28.5mm diameter excluding the winding crown and the lugs… as per the fashions of the time, it is a smaller watch which would suit a slim wrist. The Denisteel case was made in England by the Dennison Watch Case Company. The back of the case has a previous owner’s initials together with the date 7-5-49.
The dial is signed with the name of the original retailers Walker & Hall Ltd. The business was established in Sheffield in 1845 by George Walker and he was joined by Henry Hall in 1853. Showrooms were opened in various locations around the country and also in Australia and South Africa. The dial has darkened with age and has a little marking but overall has a lovely look.
A new leather strap has been fitted.

All of our watches are checked over before listing, and are also checked for accuracy which is usually within around +/- two to three minutes over 24 hours (unless otherwise stated), which is considered respectable for a vintage watch.
