1930s Cortébert pocket watch and chain.
1930s Cortébert pocket watch and chain.
Cortébert used to be one of the highest regarded premium watch brands, manufacturing their own movements, supplying movements to other brands such as Rolex and introducing the jump-hour arrangement. When the quartz crisis hit the industry in the 1970s, the majority of prestige brands ceased production including Cortébert.
The watch has a stem-winding movement which is working well. The movement is stamped Cortébert, 15 Jewels, Swiss Made and the calibre number 534.
The watch measures 49.3mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The nickel case has light surface marking from use but overall it is in nice condition for a 1930s piece.
The acrylic lens is in nice condition.
The signed dial is in nice condition.
The watch has its original blued steel hands.
The watch comes with a single graduated chain, 37cm long including the T-bar and the clasp.
The watch and chain come in a new presentation box.
