1930 Silver Half Hunter Pocket Watch And Albert
Silver Syren half hunter pocket watch from the jewellers Sansco, Schultis Schwar & Co Ltd, Pretoria, 1930, with single silver albert.
The partners in the company were Louis Schultis (manager of the Pretoria branch) and Henry Schwar (London branch). The partnership was dissolved in 1887 but the firm continued with the London branch moving to Clerkenwell Road in London in 1901. The company went into liquidation in 1939.
This particular watch has a stem-winding movement which is working nicely. The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover.
The watch itself measures 50mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is silver and there are hallmarks inside the three covers for Birmingham 1930, with a case maker's mark for Aaron Dennison of the Dennison Watch Case Company, a prolific manufacturer of cases for many watch companies. The case is in good condition, just a couple of small “dings” and light surface marks but nothing too detrimental at all.
The front cover has enamelled filled Roman numerals around a small lens. The winding crown pushes in to release the front cover. Inside there is an acrylic lens which is in good condition. The signed dial is in good condition, just a couple of very faint short hairlines which you can just about see with a magnifying loupe. Blued steel hands, including the special half hunter hand so the hands can be distinguished between, and the time read, when the front cover is closed. Subsidiary seconds dial and an outer minute track.
The watch comes with a single silver albert which measures 22.5cm long including the T-bar and the clasp.
The watch will be sent in a new presentation box.
ALL PRICES INCLUDE UK POSTAGE (excluding Northern Ireland).
Please contact us before placing international orders so that we can advise of shipping prices and to see if customs regulations allow us to post watches to your country.

All of our watches are checked over before listing, and are also checked for accuracy which is usually within around +/- two to three minutes over 24 hours (unless otherwise stated), which is considered respectable for a vintage watch.
We are a VAT registered company and all purchases are covered by Consumer Regulations.
Credit / debit card purchases can be made over the telephone on 01386 750238 or you can proceed via the \'Buy Securely\' button on each listing page.
We are an on-line only business and do not have facilities for callers. Our offices are open from Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.
With regards to appraisals / valuations, we receive a huge number of information requests each day and unfortunately do not have the manpower to deal with them all individually. Our advice would be to contact a local auctioneer for a full appraisal.
