1920s Rotary Super Sports wrist watch
1920s Rotary Super Sports wrist watch.
The watch has a 15-jewel hand-winding movement which is working nicely. The movement is signed with the Rotary wings logo.
The watch measures 30.5mm wide excluding the winding crown and 30.5mm high excluding the lugs. The case is white rolled gold and the inside has the SD mark for Sylvain Dreyfruss.
Rotary Watches Ltd was established at La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland, by Moise Dreyfuss in 1895. By the 1920s family members Georges and Sylvain Dreyfuss began importing Rotary watches to Britain, which was to become the company's most successful market.
The front of the case has general light marking, all very acceptable for such an early piece. The back of the watch has some unevenness.
The later lens is in good condition.
The signed dial is in its original finish with original hands, a subsidiary seconds dial and outer minute markers. There is some age related darkening to the dial but still easy to read the time.
A new leather strap has been fitted.
The watch comes in a new presentation box.
