1920s Oak Filing Cabinet

A fantastic example of early commercial furniture, this tall and narrow oak filing cabinet was purpose-built for an architectural office around the 1920s. It features a vertical rising tambour door, which would glid from bottom to top to reveal a run of twenty shallow plan drawers paired with deep vertical pigeonholes.
Constructed in solid oak, the cabinet has a robust, clean-lined look . The drawers are dovetailed and retain their original brass cardholders, while the pigeonholes are formed from early plywood panels.
The tambour is made from tightly jointed oak, designed for constant use in a busy design studio. This rising tambour style was perfect for protecting drawings and tracings without needing extra space for a swing door.
This cabinet is priced at £960 without locks, and please note that the tambour shutter is currently not working. If you would like us to add locks and repair the tambour, the total price would be £1,200. All of our prices include current VAT (20%). Thanks.
