1920s Kays Keyless Triumph pocket watch & chain
A 1920s Kays Keyless “Triumph” pocket watch & chain.
William Kay set up Kays of Worcester in 1890. Customers bought items from handbills in a folder and initially the goods on offer were limited to antique jewellery, watches, antique clocks and household items. Eventually William’s son Jack took over the running of the business, just a year after this particular watch was made. The company continued to expand and trade successfully, becoming one of Worcester’s largest employers.
This particular watch has a Swiss 15 jewel stem-winding movement which is working well. It is protected by an inner hinged cover which has some surface marking from use.
The watch itself measures 50.7mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The nickel case has light surface marking from use and some mild bruising to the back but overall it is in nice condition for a 1920s piece. The case back is inscribed W.Rain.
The acrylic lens is in nice condition.
The signed dial is in lovely condition, and has blued steel hands, a subsidiary seconds dial and an outer minute track.
The watch comes on a graduated nickel watch chain which measures 30 cm including the T bar and clasp.
The watch will be sent in a new presentation box.
ALL PRICES INCLUDE UK POSTAGE (excluding Northern Ireland).
Please contact us before placing international orders so that we can advise of shipping prices and to see if customs regulations allow us to post watches to your country.
The international buyer is responsible for paying any import duties and taxes.
All of our watches are checked over before listing, and are also checked for accuracy which is usually within around +/- two to three minutes over 24 hours (unless otherwise stated), which is considered respectable for a vintage watch.
We are a VAT registered company and all purchases are covered by Consumer Regulations.
Credit / debit card purchases can be made over the telephone on 01386 750238 or you can proceed via the \'Buy Securely\' button on each listing page.
We are an on-line only business and do not have facilities for callers. Our offices are open from Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.
With regards to appraisals / valuations, we receive a huge number of information requests each day and unfortunately do not have the manpower to deal with them all individually. Our advice would be to contact a local auctioneer for a full appraisal.
