1916 Omega 'Cushion' Cased Wristwatch
A 1916 Omega wristwatch of a 'cushion' case design, a classic of the early wristwatch era. An enamel dial in excellent condition, with lume-filled Arabic numerals in an oversized design. The hours and minutes are indicated by blued steel 'cathedral' hands, delicately shaped. The dial features a subtly recessed section, signed with the classic Omega logo and script. A subsidiary seconds dial positioned at 6 o'clock is finely detailed with precise 10-second markers. This watch is a superb representation of Omega's early 20th-century craftsmanship and innovation.
A well designed three-piece 'cushion' case, showcasing a soft, rounded-square silhouette characteristic of early 20th-century wristwatch. The central body is accented by elegantly shaped lugs, integrated into the design. The case back's inner surface is signed 'Wadsworth Referee 20 Years,' showing the case grade used at the time.
The watch is powered by a 17 jewel Omega 27.9 SBN manual wind mechanism. The 5.3m serial number dates this watch to circa 1916.
Case width (excluding crown) 32mm
Case height 39mm
Case depth 10mm
