1914 Waltham Bond St silver hunter pocket watch
1912 silver Waltham Bond St full hunter pocket watch for Stewart Dawson & Co Ltd.
The watch has a stem-winding movement, Bond Street grade, which is working nicely. The movement is fully signed with the Waltham name and the serial number 18,455,522 dates it back to around 1912. The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover which has a small patch of unevenness.
The watch measures 50mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is silver and there are hallmarks for Birmingham 1914 with a case maker's mark for Aaron Dennison, a prolific manufacturer of cases for various watch makers. There is some gentle unevenness to the case but overall the condition is very acceptable for such an early piece. Some rubbing to the engine turned detail commensurate with its age.
The winding crown pushes in to open the front cover. Inside, the lens is in good condition.
The dial is signed both with the Waltham name and also Stewart Dawson & Co Ltd. It is in very nice condition and has blued steel hands, a subsidiary seconds dial and an outer minute track.
Stewart Dawson & Co Ltd was a wholesale and retail business established in 1869. The business moved to London in 1897, and subsequently set up branches in Melbourne and Sydney. In 1931 the business was sold to R H O Hills of Blackpool who continued to trade until their closure in 1935.
The watch will be sent in a new presentation box. ALL PRICES INCLUDE UK POSTAGE (excluding Northern Ireland).
Please contact us before placing international orders so that we can advise of shipping prices and to see if customs regulations allow us to post watches to your country.
The international buyer is responsible for paying any import duties and taxes.
All of our watches are checked over before listing, and are also checked for accuracy which is usually within around +/- two to three minutes over 24 hours (unless otherwise stated), which is considered respectable for a vintage watch.
We are a VAT registered company and all purchases are covered by Consumer Regulations.
Credit / debit card purchases can be made over the telephone on 01386 750238 or you can proceed via the \'Buy Securely\' button on each listing page.
We are an on-line only business and do not have facilities for callers. Our offices are open from Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.
With regards to appraisals / valuations, we receive a huge number of information requests each day and unfortunately do not have the manpower to deal with them all individually. Our advice would be to contact a local auctioneer for a full appraisal.
