Large early 18th.c. carved oak bible box c.1700. Sloping lectern top opening to reveal a fitted interior of three small pigeon holes plus space for a large bible. Internal height at the front edge and below the shelf is 6″. Decorative carved frieze across the front with scrolling forms within a border of repeated arches either side of the iron lock plate. The arch border is continued around the top and sides with lovely chip carved edges, iron hinges and latch. Some earlier repairs and restorations, excellent colour and condition.
