18th Century French Cherrywood Farmhouse Table
18th Century French Cherrywood Farmhouse Table.
This rare table has survived in virtually untouched condition. This is a generous 8 seater.
It has a wonderful rich colour & superb patination.
The elegant turned legs are joined by end & centre stretchers.
The ends of the table are in fact 2 working drawers which have never had handles but instead they have a groove on the underside to enable the drawer to be opened.
The top has one feather ( as can be seen in photo ) otherwise it has normal useage marks & evidence of historic woodworm as should be expected in a table of this age.
18th century antique tables were used with benches rather than chairs so the table height is lower than a modern table.
We have raised the table to 30" table height by adding 4 turned feet which are dry dowelled so that the integrity of the table remains intact. This allows chairs to be used for seating with ample leg room for comfort. Should anyone wish to use benches we have a pair of 19th century cherrywood benches available, code number as059a726.
Photos will show the table with & without feet & 1 image shows the turned feet alone.
Condition is very good for age with no major problems.
Size height 30", width 28" length 92".
