Highly desirable and rare, solid 18ct gold Waltham 5 minute repeater full hunter pocket watch dating to 1888/9.

The signed white enamel dial with black Arabic numerals, 5 minute outer track, blued steel spade hands and subsidiary seconds dial. In excellent condition having no hairlines, chips or discolouration.

The solid 18ct yellow gold, engine turned full hunter case bearing Swiss gold control marks for 18C (18ct) and the sponsor's mark of Alfred Bedford (manager of Waltham Watch Co. UK). The front and back cover with engine turned design. The bow is a non gold replacement. There are no personal inscriptions and the case is generally in very good condition with no significant dings or scratches.

The nickel 3/4 plate, stem wind, lever set movement with Fogg Tadpole regulator, 16 jewels etc. This particular movement bears the following detail: American Waltham Watch Co., Waltham, Mass. RIVERSIDE, Patented 1888, Safety pinion, 3793845. The repeater work probably made by C. H. Meylan for Waltham and is unusual in having the grade name 'RIVERSIDE' which is something I have not seen on other 5 minute repeaters. The movement is in very good condition and working order.
