18CT Gold Hamilton Railroad Pocket Watch
An immaculate, rare, antique, 18CT Solid Gold, Railroad grade, Pocket Watch by the Hamilton Watch Company, USA, in excellent condition and working order, dating from c1904.
The double sunk, 24 hour, white enamel dial is in very good condition. It has the hours in black Arabic numerals with an inner chapter in red for hours 13-24. The minutes numbered at 5 minute intervals on the outer chapter. There is a sub seconds dial at six o'clock.
This watch a "private label" made for the Canadian market the dial signed by the retailer "A Ross & Co., Port Arthur, Ont." - Port Arthur, Ontario, Canada.
The heavy 18 carat gold case is in very good condition. It has the original owner's initials engraved on the rear cover. It has the maker's name "A.W.C.CO" stamped above "18K" for 18 carat gold and the case serial number 13433.
The very good quality movement is in excellent condition and working order. It is a Hamilton grade 940, 21 Jewels, adjusted. The serial number dating the manufacture to c1904. The movement is stem wound and lever set. The time being set by turning the winding crown whilst having the lever pulled out to the hand set position. The lever located at two o'clock (see photo).
The case measures 53mm in diameter. The weight is 160.0g
