1809 (George III) Napoleonic War Valentine Card sent to Miss Finnemore. The Hand Coloured Lithograph depicting a Soldier in a British Infantry Sargents Uniform (Redcoat). The hand written verse inside of the card reads

"If Duty calls I must away
To guard your charming British fair
But yet the' absent from my native home
I'll think on thee my Mary dear
For 'tis you and only you that shall command
The inmost thoughts and wishes of my soul
Time shall not change nor absence e'er remove
A single jot of my unbounded Love".

This charming Valentine from a soldier to his sweetheart Mary.
The wove paper is Watermarked 'H & ? - 1805'
Has been folded to form own envelope with seal (seal faded and has a hole where the seal was opened). Addressed to Miss Finnemore, High Wood, Uttoxeter.
