A 14th century carved walnut figure of St .Anthony the Abbot with hermit staff.

Northern france mid 14th century.

St .Anthony moved to the desert at the age of 35 to live alone he lived 20 years in an abandoned fort as a hermit,he is the patron saint of baskets and brushes..

Standing tall with paternoster beads and a hermit staff with flames at his feet.

Overall in good solid condition ,signs of worm damage and unfortunately his eyes have been removed.

A good sculptural figure.
