A quality William IV mahogany metamorphic side table / three-tier dumbwaiter c1835. A quality William IV mahogany metamorphic side table / three-tier dumbwaiter c1835. An unusual and ingenious side or wine table that converts into a three-tier dumbwaiter. Solid mahogany circular tiers with moulded edge detail on middle and lower tiers which nest together when lowered. Tiers are supported by a central reeded column terminating in a tulip carved and turned base. Central column houses the cable mechanism to raise and lower tiers. Raised on a triform base with bun feet and concealed brass castors. Watch a video of it transforming from side table to dumbwaiter and back (on our website). The table is 56.5 cm in diameter and 76 cm in height when closed (102 cm when fully raised).
This metamorphic table is in excellent condition commensurate with age. Minor historic marks and wear as is to be expected with genuine antique furniture. Mechanism to raise/lower tiers works smoothly.
