Description

A large quality sterling silver photograph frame by William Harrison Walter, Birmingham 1899. The silver frame is of a rectangular form with radius top corners and a particularly broad, domed frame. The back with easel-type support and hinged window secured by a white metal swivel tab. Frame back has been professionally recovered in quality navy-blue cotton velvet and navy watermarked moire backing. The silver frame is of a particularly heavy gauge of silver and is inset with a removable glass cover. Hallmarked for the Birmingham Assay Office 1888 and for silversmith William Harrison Walter. The frame measures 25 cm by 20 cm. Aperture measures 21 cm by 15.5 cm.
This silver frame is in excellent overall condition commensurate with age. The silver frame is exceptional condition with insignificant signs of use. Frame back is solid. Hinge to strut and catch securing the window are all sound. Please see images as they forms an important part of the description.
