Four Glass Mantle Clock Signed Robert Ross, Paris
Description
French Four Glass brass mantle clock c1880. The clock is in an unusual (near) square-section brass case with bevelled glass panels. White enamelled dial with black roman numerals, minute ring and shaped hands. Colleted winding holes. An 8-day duration movement striking the hours and half-hours on a bell. Pendulum with faux mercury vials and working Brocot suspension. Dial signed "Robert Ross, Paris" who would have been the retailer. Movement's backplate stamped HP&Co who were clockmakers operating near Paris during the mid to late 19th century. Supplied with winding keys. The clock is 26 cm in height. Base measures 15 cm width and 13.5 cm depth. Excellent time-keeper.
