Description

Quite a rare survival, a working basket made with dried grass or cereal stems, held in a bundle and tied with strips of dried bramble stems which make wonderful string. An art form, once a rural necessity, a very labour intensive basket at no actual cost but over time, with preparations, countless ours of evening work. In the days when there were experts in this craft large items could be made and there are surviving large wing armchairs formed on much larger upturned bases like this one.
