Description

A Victorian beech measure stamped with the excise mark and half pint alongside LCC, London. Hence the suggestion of Buckinghamshire, High Wycombe being a centre of chair production the forests were on the doorstep producing quantities of beech, elm and ash. The timber this was made from was not completely seasoned and consequently has become slightly oval and caused a slight split an inch long at the top. However it has been fully seasoned now for over a 100 years so it's going nowhere.
DateLate 19th Century DimensionsJust over 4 1/2" tall and 3" diameter along the grain and two and three quarters across the grain due to natural shrinkage in the unseasoned wood.
