Watercolour portrait study by Robert Sauber, circa 1894. The work is executed in monotone with white highlights and depicts an elegant young lady holding a parasol. The piece demonstrates the artist’s fine draughtsmanship and sensitivity to detail.Robert H. Sauber was born in London in 1866 and studied at the Julliene School of Art in Paris and also studied in Vienna. He was an artist/illustrator, and opened a school for artists in his Kensington studios that was unfortunately destroyed along with many of his portraits and works of art due to enemy action in WWI.
