Description
A fabulous 'Fishes' trio, designed by John Armstrong for the 1934 Harrods and 1935 Art in Industry exhibitions. The theme for the exhibitions was 'Modern Art for the Table', with renowned artists of the day invited to submit designs including Vanessa Bell, Barbara Hepworth, Graham Sutherland and Laura Knight. The trio is in very good age related condition with no chips, cracks, hairlines or pattern loss. The cup does not ring as well as the plate and saucer but under close inspection there are no faults that I can find, although a little light crazing around the base.Cup - 7.5cm high
Saucer - 14.5cm dia
Plate - 18cm dia
Fully signed to the base of each pace with John Armstrongs signature. White marks are from the camera
