Description

Really lovely pair of Japanese square section, Satsuma vases. They are a true pair which when displayed offer similar scenes having been designed to compliment one another. You have four choices of scenes to display simply by turning the vases and matching the patterns.

Good condition - the vases have no chips, cracks, or, restoration. There is some rubbing to the gilding at the top and bottom though on the scale of things it is not much. Small chip to one wood stand.

These are substantial vases at approximately 30 cms tall, 35 cms when on their wooden stands. Please see the size when compared to a standard size wine bottle.

Both vases are signed underneath for the reknowned maker 'Hohoda'. The quality of the hand decoration is very good indeed both in design and execution.

Meiji period 1868 to 1912

Would make a superb addition to a collection of Satsuma pottery, or, ideal for the interior designer there being many colours in the decoration.

My amateur photography is not doing justice to this pair of vases. I thnk they are much more attractive than my photos show.
Currently my internet shop is closed for holidays. Apologies for any inconvenience caused.
