Japanese Polished Bronze Vases

Photos

Description

A good facing pair of Japanese polished bronze vases with multi metal inlay to form pattern of cockerells sitting on blossoming branches. The inlay is of silver, gold and copper. At top and bottom of the vases are traces of what appears to be patination of a darker shade.

I have never found any item as difficult to photopgraph as these vases as reflection has made it almost impossible!

The bronze is of a heavy guage and the pattern to the front. The backs are plain. Condition is very good with just a few very tiny marks as you would expect on an item of this age.

There are no makers marks though there is the stamp mark 'foreign' to the base of the vases. This mark was added to items to show that they were manufactured outside the British Empire
