Description

An attractive Victorian chair. We date this chair to the early 19th century.

The chair sits on carved legs to the front and two backward splayed rectangular section legs to the rear.

The backrest has a horizontal carved top bar with a narrow bar below, the armrests have lovely carved scroll arms. The chair seat pad has been newly upholstered in a peach check fabric.

The chair has an overall height of 34" (86cm), an overall width of 21" (54cm), an overall depth of 21" (54cm), a backrest height of 15.5" (40cm), a seat height of 17.5" (45cm), a seat width of 18" (46cm) and seat depth of 17.5” (45cm).

The chair remains in a good condition with only very minor surface marks commensurate with age and usage, including an old repair to the front right hand leg and wear to the bottom of the front legs as can be seen in the pictures.

This remains a very stylish and elegant chair. It is very comfortable and supportive to sit on and will continue to provide rest and relaxation for many years to come.
