Description

An attractive Regency chair. We date this chair to the first half of the 19th century.

The chair sits on sabre legs to the front and two backward splayed square section legs to the rear.

The backrest has an attractive carved thistle on the lower horizontal bar and the armrests have lovely carved scroll arms. The chair seat pad has been newly upholstered in a blue fabric.

The chair has an overall height of 33" (84cm), an overall width of 20.5" (52cm), an overall depth of 22" (56cm), a backrest height of 15" (38cm), a seat height of 17.5" (45cm), a seat width of 17" (44cm) and seat depth of 19” (49cm).

The chair remains in a good condition with only very minor surface marks commensurate with age and usage, including an old repair to an arm and some indentations to some of the edges.

This remains a very stylish and elegant chair. It is very comfortable and supportive to sit on and will continue to provide rest and relaxation for many years to come.
