Description

An attractive gilt mirror. We date this mirror to the early 19th century.

The mirror consists of a central beveled edge oval mirror. The mirror frame has lovely carvings of a piper and four dancing girls below the cornice, a floral ribbon around the mirror and a carved column to each side.

The rear of the mirror has fittings for wall hanging.

The overmantle mirror has a height of 34.5" (88cm), a width of 21.5" (55cm) at its widest and a depth of 3" (8cm) at its deepest.

This lovely Regency carved overmantle mirror remains in good solid condition with surface markings commensurate with age and usage. There is some minor foxing to the mirror and some losses to the gilt on the cornice, the balls and some edges as can be seen in pictures.

This remains a stylish and elegant overmantle mirror which will continue to provide good service for many years to come.
