Description

An attractive bergere armchair. We date this chair to the early 20th century.

The chair sits on two carved and turned legs to the front with two square section legs to the rear, there is a decoratively carved front stretcher below the seat pad.

The armrests have a turned support to the front. The backrest and armrests have oak frame bergere caning.

The seat has a well padded and sprung lift out cushion base upholstered in green fabric.

The chair has a height of 35.5" (90cm), an overall width of 22.5" (57cm), an overall depth of 24" (61cm), a backrest height of 16" (41cm), a seat height of 19" (48cm), a seat width of 19.5" (49cm) and a seat depth of 19.5" (50cm).

This attractive oak bergere armchair remains in a good solid condition with only minor markings and indentations commensurate with age and usage. The seat pad has been basically recovered at some time in the past and you can still see the old fabric in some places. There are a few marks to the material and some minor wear to the finish on the armrests.

This remains a very stylish and elegant armchair which is very comfortable and supportive to sit on. It will continue to provide rest and relaxation for many years to come.
