Description

A lovely antique brass fire basket. We date this grate to the early 20th century.

The fire grate has square tapered legs with a pierced serpentine fretwork front and finials supporting a cast iron shaped fire back decorated at the top with an urn.

The fire basket back has an internal width of 12” (31cm) and a height of 24.5” (62cm), the overall width including its legs is 27.5” (70cm) and overall depth 13” (33cm).

This lovely fire grate and back remains in a good solid condition, commensurate with age and usage. This includes a little bit of oxidation to the cast iron frame and a bit of tarnish to the brass as can be seen in pictures.

This remains a stylish fire grate. It will continue to provide good service for many years to come.
