Description

A lovely Victorian carved walnut sideboard. We date this sideboard to the second half of the 19th century.

The sideboard comes in one large section and is very heavy. Please check it will fit through doors and around corners before purchasing.

The sideboard sits on a plain plinth base and has a small gallery at the rear, there are three side by side drawers at the top. Below there is a central storage area over a lower two door cupboard. At each side there is a cupboard with a side hinged carved panel door. Internally the left hand cupboard has two removable shelves and the right hand cupboard has a mid height fixed shelf.

The cupboard doors are fitted with drop handles mounted on shapely backplates, the doors also have locks fitted (no key is supplied but one should be obtainable if required), they cupboard handles turn to operate the catches. The drawers are fitted with large heavy drop brass handles mounted on decorative backplates.

The sideboard has a height of 40.5" (103cm) including gallery, a table top height of 37” (94cm), a width of 73" (186cm) and a depth of 22" (56cm).

This lovely large Victorian sideboard remains in very good solid condition with only very minor surface markings commensurate with age and usage. The sideboard would have had a larger gallery back at some time in the past, there are some visible marks where it has sat. There is wear around some edges and base primarily to the back outer edges. There are some usage marks on the inside of the drawers.

This remains a very stylish and elegant large Victorian sideboard which will continue to provide good service for many years to come.
