Description

A lovely carved oak dresser. We date this dresser to the late 19th century.

The dresser sits on a stepped plinth base with turned feet and has a stepped cornice with carvings.

The dresser is supplied in two sections. The top cabinet section and the base cupboard section.

The top section features a raised three door cabinet. The central door has a leaded mirrored panel and is fitted with a lock (key is supplied). The two side doors have lovely carved central panels and are fitted with decorative button handles. Internally there is a mid-height wooden shelf. Below the three doors there is a panelled back with a central mirror flanked by lovely carvings at each side. There is a small full width gallery at the base of the mirror. The top section has four well turned columns at the front, at each side of a door with a further two for supports.

The base section consists of two drawers over a two door cupboard with two side hinged paneled doors. The drawers have a lovely curved shape with carvings and are fitted with attractive drop handles. The doors each have attractive carved panels with turned columns at the outer edge. The right hand door is fitted with a lock (key is supplied), the left hand door has a mid height catch under the shelf and a matching lock facing. Internally there is a mid-height wooden shelf.

The dresser has an overall height of 87.5" (223cm), a base section height of 40" (102cm), a base width of 51.5" (131cm) and a base depth of 20" (51cm). The cornice has a width of 53” (135cm) and depth of 17.5” (45cm).

This lovely oak dresser remains in good solid condition with only minor surface markings commensurate with age and usage. The mirror has some minor foxing and there is some minor wear from past use.

This remains a stylish and elegant oak dresser. It will continue to provide good service for many years to come.
