A lovely child’s school desk. We date this desk to the 1950/60s.

The desk and chair both sit on the main tubular metal frame that sits on four legs with rubber feet. The desk has a metal frame with a wooden hinged lid that lifts to reveal the storage area. The lid has an easy wipe formica top.

The chair is bentwood ply and is in a fixed position and the metal has a grey painted finish. There is a hook to one side of the desk that would have been for a school bag.

There is a label for D Lesage, Otegem at the front of the desk.

The desktop has a height of 25.5" (65cm), a width of 23.5" (60cm), a depth of 16" (41cm) and an overall length of 26” (66cm) with the chair.

The chair has a seat height of 15“ ( 38cm).

This lovely school desk remains in good solid condition with surface markings commensurate with age and usage. There is wear to the painted finish. There are some light pen marks on the wood to the underside of the lid from past use. There is some wear to the metal desk primarily to the inside of the storage area.

This remains a very stylish and elegant desk
that will continue to provide good service for many years to come.
