Antique Chaise Longue Daybed For Reupholstery
Description
An attractive Victorian chaise longue for reupholstery. We date this chaise to the 1900s.The chaise sits on four turned feet and has a turned spindle back with padded top.
The sloping backrest is well padded and the seat base has been padded and sprung.
The chaise can be used as a double bed when it is unclipped at the rear and flipped over.
The chaise is upholstered in a tapestry material.
The chaise has an overall height of 27.7" (70cm) with an overall length of 71.5" (182cm) and an overall depth of 25" (64cm). The chaise has a backrest height of 14" (36cm), a seat height of 15" (38cm), a seat length of 58" (148cm) and a seat depth of 22" (56cm) at its deepest.
When opened the bed measures 48” (122cm) wide and 59” (150cm) long.
This attractive antique chaise remains in good solid condition with only minor surface marking commensurate with age and usage. The fabric has quite a bit of wear with some tears on the corners and edges and the webbing on the underside has burst. There would have been castors at one time that would need replaced if opening to use as bed to keep the level even.
This remains a very stylish and elegant antique chaise. It is very comfortable and supportive to sit or lie on. With sympathetic restoration it will continue to provide rest and repose for many years to come.
