Description

A lovely antique mahogany wash stand. We date this washstand to the early 19th century.

The washstand sits on slightly protruding square section legs and has a bow front design.

The table top and side is a hinged lid when lifted it becomes a gallery back and sits on a sprung catch at the side. When raised it reveals the area that would have held the wash bowl and accessories.

The lower tier has a central drawer fitted with a small brass drop handle.

The base has stretchers with a small central tray.

The stand has an overall height of 49" (125cm) including gallery, a table top height of 32.5” (83cm), a width of 25" (64cm) and a depth of 17.5" (45cm).

This attractive mahogany washstand remains in very good solid condition with only very minor surface markings commensurate with age and usage including some marks to the lower shelf.

This remains a very stylish & elegant mahogany wash stand. It could serve well as either a washstand or as a corner table. It will continue to provide sterling service for many years to come.
