Description

A lovely antique mahogany commode. We date this commode to the late 18th century.

The commode sits on four square legs.

The commode has a square table top with a small carved gallery on four sides, below there is a two door cupboard fitted with a brass drop handle on the right hand door that operates the catch.

The commode section slides out from beneath the cupboard with a lid.

The doors and commode fronts have an attractive inlaid flame mahogany design and fitted with later added brass handles.

The cabinet has an overall height of 30.5" (77cm) including the gallery with a width and depth of 19.5" (50cm).

This attractive mahogany cabinet remains in very good solid condition with only very minor surface markings commensurate with age and usage. There is some minor wear to some edges and old repaired age splits to the top and sides panels. The ceramic bowl is missing.

This remains a very stylish & elegant mahogany commode. It could serve well as either a side cabinet or restored to a pull out commode. It will continue to provide sterling service for many years to come.
