Description

A lovely breakfront Georgian sideboard. We date this sideboard to the early 19th century.

The sideboard is supplied in two sections and sits on six sturdy downward tapered reeded legs with turned feet arranged four at the front and two at the rear.

The main base sideboard section has a central breakfront design with two central drawers, the lower drawer is discrete and recessed. These are flanked by recessed deep drawers, one at either side.

The top section has a shallow storage area at the rear with sliding panels flanked by a drawer at each side. The drawers have period drop ring handles mounted on a lion's head.

The drawers are fitted with locks (no key is supplied but one should be obtainable if required).

The sideboard has a height of 44.5" (113cm), a width of 90.5" (230cm) and a depth of 29" (74cm) in the centre.

This attractive mahogany sideboard remains in very good solid condition with only minor surface markings commensurate with age and usage. There are some small old veneer repairs and the central drawer handles have been replaced at some time in the past. The table top has some darker marks from past use.

This remains a very stylish and elegant sideboard. It will continue to provide sterling service for many years to come.
