Description

A lovely antique oak washstand. We date this cabinet to the early 20th century.

The washstand sits on slightly recessed wide shapely feet.

The front of the cabinet has a central top drawer over a hinged door, these are flanked by a cupboard to each side. Internally there is one large cupboard with a mid-height removable shelf. The side doors and drawer have a lovely Art Deco carved design and are fitted with ornate Art Deco handles.

The marble top sits within a lipped edge. The marble top is removable for transportation. The marble has lovely grey, white and reds.

The cabinet has an overall height of 34" (86cm), a width of 50" (127cm) and a depth of 20" (51cm).

This attractive washstand remains in very good solid condition with only very minor surface markings commensurate with age and usage. There is a bit of wear to some of the edges from past use. The marble has a large crack that runs on the vein and a chip to the rear left hand side, it is quite discreet when sitting in place.

This remains a very stylish & elegant wash stand. It could serve well as either a washstand or as a sideboard. It will continue to provide sterling service for many years to come.
