Description

A lovely oak washstand. We date this washstand to the late 19th century.

The washstand has four drawers and a small cupboard. The drawers are set out as two drawers next to the small cupboard with a deeper full width drawer below.

The washstand has a split level, the left hand side is higher by a single drawer. There is a swivel mirror to the rear that has shapely supports with a protruding small round shelf at each side.

The right hand side has a marble top with lovely shades of grey and a tiled gallery to the rear. The tiles are dark yellow and a dark teal in colour.

The drawers and cupboard are fitted with brass drop handles and locks (no key is supplied but one could be obtained if required).

There is a towel rail to the outer right hand side.

The washstand has an overall height of 58” (147cm), an overall width of 46.5" (118cm) and a depth of 19.5" (50cm).
The right hand side table top height is 29.5” (75cm) with a gallery of 12” (31cm) and the left hand side table top height is 34” (87cm)

This lovely washstand remains in very good solid condition with only very minor surface markings commensurate with age and usage. There is wear to some edges including under the front of the left hand side mirror support where there has been movement due to damage done at some time in the past. The mirror has some slight foxing.

This remains a very stylish and elegant washstand. It will continue to provide good service for many years to come.
