A lovely Edwardian mahogany music chest. We date this chest to the early 20th century. There is a plaque at the side of the top drawer for ‘Lidstone Music Cabinets’.

The chest sits on four downward tapered square section legs that are braced by a lower shelf. The chest has an inlaid detail around the edge of the top, the lower shelf and the drawer fronts. There is a small removable gallery to the rear.

The chest is fitted with a bank of four drawers each fitted with a drop ring handle mounted on circular embossed brass backplates. The drawers are each fitted with a mechanism which allows the face to drop when opened, allowing easy access to the drawer for sheets of music etc.

The cabinet has an overall height of 43.5" (111cm), a width of 22" (56cm) and a depth of 15.5" (40cm).

This lovely Edwardian mahogany music chest remains in very good solid condition with only minor surface markings commensurate with age and usage. There are some minor wear marks to the top surface with a couple of indentations to the front edge.

This remains a very stylish and elegant small Edwardian mahogany music chest which will continue to provide sterling service for many years to come.
