Description

An attractive armchair and footstool. We date these to the late 19th century.

The chair sits on two carved cabriole legs at the front and two square section legs at the rear.

The padded backrest has a lovely shape, the seat is sprung and well padded. The armrests are also padded with shapely carved fronts.

The chair and stool have been upholstered in green leather with studded detail.

The chair is very comfortable to sit on, with the backrest being shaped to provide good support for the back.

The footstool is square in shape and sits on a plinth base with bun feet.

The chair has an overall height of 36" (92cm), an overall width of 24" (61cm), an overall depth of 23" (58cm), a backrest height of 17" (43cm), a seat height of 18" (46cm), a seat width of 18" (46cm) and a seat depth of 19.5" (49cm).

The stool has a height of 6.5” (16cm) and is 12.5” (32cm) square.

The chair remains in a good usable condition with surface marks commensurate with age and usage. The leather has a few very minor marks from past use, the chair is missing its front castors and there has been a heavy repair to the back of the chair as can be seen in the pictures. The stool has some wear to the plinth at the corners.

This remains a very stylish and elegant armchair and stool. It is very comfortable and supportive to sit on and will continue to provide rest and relaxation for many years to come.
