Description

An attractive Victorian chaise longue. We date this chaise to the second half of the 19th century.

The chaise sits on two ornately carved cabriole legs at the front which continue up the front of the armrest with a scroll top. The rear has two square section splayed legs.

The backrest is well padded with a button back design. The chaise Longue has a shapely back that curves round to the armrests. The backrest is raised at both ends with the left hand side being the higher of the two. The chaise longue has a lovely serpentine front and a well padded deep seat.

The chaise longue has a very sturdy frame and is upholstered in a deep red velour material.

The chaise has an overall height of 35.5" (90cm) at highest with an overall length of 74" (188cm) and an overall depth of 35" (89cm). The chaise has a backrest height of 22.5" (58cm) at its highest, a seat height of 13" (33cm), a seat length of 54" (137cm) and a seat depth of 21" (54cm) at its deepest.

This attractive antique Victorian chaise remains in good solid condition with only minor surface marking commensurate with age and usage. The fabric is usable but has a bit of wear with some tagging throughout and a mark on the seating area. There is a small tear in the fabric on the inside of the right hand side armrest at the base. The castors have been removed at some time in the past.

This remains a very stylish and elegant Victorian chaise. It is very comfortable and supportive to sit or lie on. It will continue to provide rest and repose for many years to come.
