Description

WHY I BOUGHT THIS ...

… because there is absolutely nothing ‘standard’ about this lamp! I would go as far as to say this is the most beautiful item I have come across this year and it is a pleasure to own it.

This is late 19th/early 20th century, Kashmiri, hand painted papier mâché, standard lamp.
This antique standard Lamp is in great condition for its age. There is slight discolouration (little darker section) on the base as shown in photos but otherwise, there is no damage or cracks.

All 3LD electrical goods are safety checked/PAT tested.

More about this antique standard lamp:

Kashmiri papier mache is a handicraft of Kashmiri India that was brought by Muslims saint Mir Sayyid Ali Hamadami from Persia in the 14th century to medieval India. It is based primarily on paper pulp, and is a richly decorated, colourful artefact generally in the form of vases, bowls, or cups (with and without metal rims), boxes, trays, bases of lamps, and many other small objects. These are made in homes, and workshops, in Srinagar, and other parts of the Kashmir Valley, and are marketed primarily within India, although there is a significant international market.
