WHY I BOUGHT THIS ...… because this is possibly my favourite aesthetic- I think I may have been Victorian in my past life! … and I love to repurpose an object as a work of art on the wall. Very ‘Christmassy’ when you need it to be.
This is one of five beautiful antique black lacquered papier-mâché Victorian desk ink blotters, with abalone mother of pearl shell inlay.
CONDITION:
The item no longer functions as a blotter- it is purely decorative. The inside papers are mottled and damaged. The exterior is in good condition for its age. Standard signs of wear and tear but there are no cracks or splits and the decoration is in good condition as shown in photos.
