Description

A 17th century marble mortar and yew wood pestle, the mortar is of octagonal form and decorated with a wriggle - work design often seen on early pewter. The yew pestle is very finely turned and has a superb patina.
Both pieces have the usual age related marks and ware, with the mortar having an old crack in one side. They are however in excellent condition considering their age.
